Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest, broadest and oldest engineering disciplines. Mechanical Engineering applies the principles of physics, materials science and mathematics to the design, development, research, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of mechanical systems. They create the processes and systems that drive technology and industry.

As a discipline, mechanical engineering is applied in a variety of areas including mining, minerals processing, manufacturing, the oil and gas industry, the automotive, aviation and shipbuilding industries, electrical power generation and distribution, road and rail transport, defence; agriculture, fishing and food processing. The Department Of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2009. The department comprises of fully equipped and state of the art laboratories. The central workshop has all the modern machining facilities to cater to the needs of the students' projects and research works of the faculty.
